Empowering Education: How MCF is Shaping Future Leaders

At Mully Children’s Family (MCF), education is the heartbeat of our mission to transform the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya.

At Mully Children’s Family (MCF), education is the heartbeat of our mission to transform the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya. Since Dr. Charles Mulli founded MCF in 1989, we’ve rescued children from streets, slums, and poverty, offering them a safe haven and the tools to become leaders. Through robust educational initiatives and vocational training programs, we’re equipping young people to break free from hardship and build sustainable futures for themselves and their communities.

A Commitment to Education

MCF believes every child deserves a chance to learn, no matter their past. Our schools provide primary and secondary education aligned with Kenya’s national curriculum, giving students a solid academic foundation. For many, this is their first opportunity to step into a classroom after years of struggle. Beyond academics, we integrate life skills and spiritual guidance, fostering resilience and purpose.

For students who show academic promise, MCF paves the way to higher education. Through scholarships and partnerships, we’ve supported individuals pursuing degrees in fields like science, medicine, and engineering at Kenyan universities. This commitment reflects our belief that education can transform a child’s life, preparing them to lead with impact.

Vocational Training: Skills for a Sustainable Future

Recognizing that every child’s path is unique, MCF offers vocational training to complement academic learning. At facilities like MCF Yatta, students gain hands-on skills in trades such as carpentry, tailoring, agriculture, and mechanics—fields that meet local demands and foster independence. Our agricultural programs teach sustainable farming techniques, contributing to food security while training the next generation of farmers. Graduates in tailoring and mechanics emerge as skilled artisans and technicians, ready to join the workforce or launch their own ventures.

Sustainability is central to our approach. MCF grows 90% of the food consumed by our children, a process that doubles as a learning opportunity for students in agricultural training. These programs don’t just teach skills—they instill confidence and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Real Impact, Real Lives Changed

The results of MCF’s efforts speak for themselves. Since our founding, we’ve impacted over 18,000 children, reintegrating them into society with the education and skills to thrive. Graduates of our programs have become business owners, community leaders, and professionals, proving the power of opportunity. In 2014, over 100 girls graduated from MCF Yatta’s vocational programs, equipped with trades like hairdressing and tailoring to build independent lives. Others have earned certificates from Mully College in areas like business and agriculture, stepping into roles that uplift their communities.

With over 6,200 children currently in our care across Kenya, MCF’s holistic model—rescuing, rehabilitating, and launching young people into dignified lives—continues to bear fruit. Looking Ahead: A Legacy of Leadership

MCF’s work is ongoing, and with the support of donors and volunteers worldwide, we’re expanding our reach. Our graduates are more than survivors—they’re innovators and leaders shaping a brighter future for Kenya and beyond. By investing in education and vocational training, we’re building a legacy of empowerment, one child at a time.

Join us in this mission. Explore our students’ journeys on YouTube and see how MCF is raising the World’s Largest Family of future leaders.

Love is in the…HAIR

Not all is lost…

Not all is lost ...

Let's talk about HAIR LOSS.

So many people identify with their hair. Some have even created an entire career around it.

What rhymes with Cher?

Exactly.

The fear of losing one's hair has been around since the beginning of time.

People used to go to great lengths (no pun intended) and tried the wildest concoctions to encourage hair growth. Do a quick Google search on Julius Caesar's attempts at hair restoration, but don't say we didn't warn you!

What some of today's treatments offer is not much more pleasant, like Propecia (finasteride), which has been linked to impotence, or hair transplants that have been known to make grown men cry (although very effective when in the hands of an expert). We are going to dive in a little deeper on less invasive options.

Hair loss, or alopecia, can bring uncomfortable feelings for men and women. You can feel self-conscious and exposed. And such a significant change may even trigger feelings of anger and depression that you aren't prepared to deal with.

If you are concerned about your appearance, don't feel shallow or guilty; give yourself time to care and feel bad about your hair loss, but remember that there are ways to feel better. Losing your hair is something you can do something about in many cases, and you can feel empowered when you take a pro-active self-approach. Don't feel bad or let yourself spiral too far about something that can be treated.

There are numerous reasons for hair loss. From genetics, postpartum, medications, hormones, STRESS, undergoing chemotherapy to even traction alopecia (hair loss due to repeated tension) from hair extensions, weaves, and or braids. It's essential you know the cause before you look for a solution.

Always consult an expert prior to purchasing a product or undergoing treatment. The options are many and finding out what is best for you is not something you will find walking through the aisles of a drugstore.

A few pearls for coping with hair loss:

Be gentle with your hair.

It's important to remember that we want to be preventative. You may not think dry shampoo could be problematic, but using dry shampoo for more than two days in a row can start to irritate and dry out your scalp. It can also clog the pores on your scalp. Clogged pores can lead to a condition referred to as folliculitis. Folliculitis can lead to inflammation which is another contributing factor when dealing with hair loss. And while extensions can be tempting, the weight and glue that are used can actually weaken your hair follicles.

At LifeHope Healing Med Spa, our providers offer nutritional supplements ( Nutrafol & ISDIN's Lambdapil), along with topicals to address hair loss and treatments to keep the scalp and hair healthy such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) both through injections and topical use with micro-needling to stimulate hair growth and nourish the scalp. Keravive by HydraFacial is another excellent treatment used to exfoliate, deep cleanse, hydrate, and encourage the flow of fresh blood and oxygen to the scalp. This RELAXING treatment leaves the scalp clean of all oils, dead skin cells, and excess products. The result ... fuller - healthier looking hair.

Remember, you're still you.

Losing your hair may come as a shock. It may be disorienting to look in the mirror and not recognize yourself. Remember that you're still the same person on the inside. Try to celebrate who you are and focus on those qualities.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Following a nutritious diet, supplements when needed, staying hydrated, and exercising regularly are essential for looking and feeling better about yourself. Control what you can, remembering that stress plays a role in hair loss and thinning.

The A - B - C - D & E's of Hair Health

The 5 best vitamins for encouraging healthy hair growth are:

  • Vitamin A (stimulate growth and creates sebum to keep the scalp and hair healthy - more is NOT better)

  • Vitamin B (Biotin and other B vitamins create red blood cells which carry oxygen and nutrients to the scalp)

  • Vitamin C (an antioxidant that fights free-radicals that slow or block growth and age the hair, creates collagen)

  • Vitamin D (when deficient has been linked to alopecia)

  • Vitamin E (an antioxidant that prevents oxidative stress and encourages hair growth)

  • Also needed are 3 nutrients - Iron - Zinc & Proteins ( hair is made almost entirely of protein and it is needed to strengthen and protect)

 Build a support system.

Share the challenges of hair loss with friends and family. You may also find it helpful to meet with a psychologist or counselor if needed.

Avoid "miracle cures."

You may be tempted to buy creams and ointments that could actually inhibit any progress a more gentle and proven treatment could make. Don't make any quick decisions before talking to a professional. There are plenty of safe and proven options out there; just be patient until you find the right one for you.

Find a solution that works for YOU.

One size does NOT fit all when it comes to treating hair loss. Some men and women may benefit from allowing themselves to be seen without a hairpiece. Many have said it turned out to be quite a liberating experience. For others, the use of wigs or hairpieces is the correct answer. It's really all about being true to yourself.

Consistency is KEY when treating hair loss.

(Photos below of Keravive by HydraFacial treatment )

Hair loss is unbelievably common, and you are not alone. There are many different treatments, and once you realize this, you'll start to feel better.

On average, we lose anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs each day. This is normal. More than 50 percent of women experience balding. By 50 years of age, about 85 percent of men are balding, according to the American Hair Loss Association (AHLA).Jan 2, 2020

For those experiencing the loss or concerned that the day might be near, you're in good company. Countless historical figures are pretty well known for their baldness. Gandhi, Aristotle, Shakespeare, to name a few.

Some modern-day names who have experienced hair loss or embraced baldness: Sir Patrick Stewart (bald since the age of 19), Oprah Winfrey, Christina Aguilera, Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, Stanley Tucci, Michael Jordan, Alyssa Milano, Bruce Willis, Sinead O'Connor, Keira Knightley, Selma Blair, Naomi Campbell, Viola Davis, The Rock.

As Cher would (most likely) say ...

Do you believe in life after ... hair loss?

Because you should. And we can't wait to help you get back to it.

Consultations at LifeHope Healing Med Spa are complimentary - 770-755-1505.

Need a little lift?

In search of the non-surgical facelift.

Let's face it. We could all use a lift!

With the ever-growing ZOOM BOOM, online dating and the never-ending to-do's of our busy schedules, finding a treatment that requires minimal downtime and maximum results for our patients sounds like a DREAM.

But It's REAL!

LifeHope Healing Med Spa has introduced a minimally-invasive procedure to our list of treatments that complement our injectable fillers and Botox in slowing the unforgiving hands of time to sculpt and contour the face.

You will have people wondering what your secret is...

And you can tell them it's ... PDO Threads.

Polydioxanone (PDO) sutures is a cosmetic procedure that instantly lifts and tightens sagging skin and repositions it to restore a youthful and natural-looking facial contour. PDO stimulates collagen production and cellular renewal, improving your skin's texture for lasting results. In just 2-6 months, you will notice an overall more toned and rejuvenated appearance at a fraction of the cost of a traditional facelift. Keep in mind that a thread lift does not replace a traditional facelift, but is an excellent alternative for the patient seeking a non-surgical treatment option.

Let's start with a consultation, and talk it out.

You will want to know ...

1. What do PDO threads do?

For decades, PDO threads have been used safely for various applications, like treating gynecological disorders or suturing incisions after medical procedures. Not only do they result in instant skin lifting, but PDO threads also contract fat tissue to result in instant skin tightening. Additionally, these threads promote collagen production and neovascularization to renew your skin at the cellular level. All work together to give you an immediate lift, and as an extra bonus, in approximately 60-90 days patients will notice visible improvement in skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and more elasticity.

 2. How long does the procedure take?

The procedure itself will take approximately 45 -90 minutes depending on the areas being treated. We will ask that a patient arrives 30-45 mins prior to their treatment time for photos, going over treatment consents, and highlighting what to expect during and following treatment, along with numbing the area to be treated.

3. What can I expect before my procedure?

Before your treatment begins, we will apply a topical numbing agent and local anesthetic to the treatment site. Our providers work to manage your comfort during and after the procedure to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. At LifeHope Healing Med Spa we also offer patients the optional use of Pro-Nox™ if needed to prevent any anxiety they may have. Pro-Nox™ uses a 50/50 combination of inhaled oxygen and nitrous oxide to provide fast-acting pain relief, similar to what is used in a dental procedure and referred to as "laughing gas".

4. What Can I Expect During Treatment?

Once the topical anesthetic has taken effect, our expert Alexis Andress, DNP ( @thebotoxunicorn) will sculpt a defined facial contour using threads expertly designed for your body's most delicate organ ... your skin. The PDO threads are inserted through blunt tip needles, called cannulas that aid in minimizing bruising and reducing injury to nerves and vessels in the area. Once inserted into the skin, they act as anchors as the skin is then lifted upwards. Then, the excess threads are trimmed off. These advanced threads provoke the body's own "healing response" and cause the body to direct large surges of collagen to the areas being treated.

 5. Is This Treatment Safe?

With over a decade-long safety record, this procedure is extremely safe and effective when provided by an expert injector. PDO thread lifts are approved by the FDA for safety and efficiency. Hundreds of thousands of patients have undergone this procedure, and there are no reports of allergic reactions, sensitivities to the threads, or severe side effects.

6. What Areas Can a PDO Thread Lift Treat?

PDO threads are very versatile coming in multiple forms - PDO mono, PDO cog, or screw and can treat virtually any area of the face. The actual type of thread is selected based on the area and desired results of smoothing and or lifting.

These include the following:

  • Neck

  • Jowls

  • Jawline - "Snatched Jawline"

  • Nasolabial Folds

  • Crow's Feet

  • Undereye Area

  • Eyebrows - "Cat-Eye"

  • Cheeks

  • Marionette Lines

  • PDO Threads can also be used on the body ( that's an exciting story for another day )

7. How Long Do the Threads Last?

The results can last anywhere from nine months to a year or longer, depending on your body's rate of metabolism.

 8. How Soon Will I See Results?

Specific results from the treatment, such as skin lifting and contouring effects, are visible immediately after treatment.

 9. When Will I See the Final Results?

The final results of your PDO thread lift will be seen within one to two months of your treatment. How long it takes you personally depends much on your age, the condition, and the health of your skin.

Age is one of the leading factors in how quickly your body produces new, healthy collagen.

 10. How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most of our clients enjoy satisfactory results after just one treatment. Six to nine months following your first treatment, you and your provider can together determine if follow-up treatment is needed. Every patient is as unique as their own personal goals.

 11. Am I a Good Candidate for a PDO Thread Lift?

If you're looking to minimize lines, wrinkles, or skin laxity, contour and sculpt the face, and want to combat the signs of facial aging without having a surgical procedure, you are an ideal candidate for a PDO thread lift. This procedure is typically performed on men and women ages mid 30's to early 60's.

Are you ready for a little LIFT?
