Waves
At the beach where the ocean sings,
Lived a child who loved all things.
Her name was Lila, small and bright,
With a smile that warmed like morning light.
Today I feel happy—I'm ready to play!
Today I feel strong—I’ll splash all day!
Today I feel silly, with giggles so loud—
I’ll build a sandcastle, tall and proud.
Feelings are waves, they come and they go,
Some move fast, and some are slow.
Just like the ocean, deep and blue,
We have waves of feelings—me and you.
Lila ran to the shore with a splash and a cheer—
The waves kissed her toes, so cold and clear.
But a big wave crashed, and down went her tower.
She felt so mad in that messy hour!
Sometimes I’m nervous, or even feel mad.
I went to bed smiling but woke up sad.
My feelings rise up, then tumble and fall—
Some come and go, I don’t notice at all.
Feelings are waves, they come and they go,
Some move fast, and some are slow.
Just like the ocean, deep and blue,
We have waves of feelings—me and you.
Lila sat in the sand, her eyes a bit wet,
Feeling so low, her heart full of fret.
A seagull named Sal swooped down with a squawk—
“Why so down, little Lila? Let’s talk!”
Sal gave a nod and said with a grin,
“Let’s start with a breath—just breathe it all in.”
Lila sniffled and smiled, gave a deep sigh,
And watched as a cloud floated soft through the sky.
“Feelings are tricky,” said Sal with care,
“But sharing them helps—see, I’m right here.”
Lila looked up, the tears nearly gone,
The wave had passed—and life carried on.
Feelings are waves, they come and they go,
Some move fast, and some are slow.
Just like the ocean, deep and blue,
We have waves of feelings—me and you.
Sal flapped his wings and gave her a smile,
“Let’s sit very still—just breathe for a while.”
Lila took a breath, so full and so deep,
And felt her big feelings begin to sleep.
Now I feel calm. Now I feel brave.
I know my feelings come just like a wave.
Some waves are big and others are small—
But I can ride them. I won’t fall.
Feelings are waves, they come and they go,
Some move fast, and some are slow.
Just like the ocean, deep and blue,
We have waves of feelings—me and you.
Lila stood tall, her heart feeling light.
She danced with the waves in the golden sunlight.
“It’s okay to feel different each day,” she said.
“I’m strong in my heart and brave in my head!”
We’re all brave and strong in all kinds of weather.
No matter the wave, we’ll ride it together.
All feelings matter—and so do you!
I’m feeling much better—how about you?
Feelings are waves, they come and they go,
Some move fast, and some are slow.
Just like the ocean, deep and blue,
We have waves of feelings—me and you.
Lila hugged Sal, her friend by the sea,
And watched the waves roll, wild and free.
She knew her feelings would come and go,
But with love and care, she’d let them flow.
