Pisces

I thought my fear of drowning

was literal in every sense,

to be held underwater,

no fight and no defense.

But then I saw the surface,

and it scared me even more.

My love was deep, unwavering,

while you sat upon the shore.

You stayed where it was shallow,

didn’t move a limb.

You saw that I was drowning,

and said you couldn’t swim.
